CSMM architects win German Design Award 2020 with Frontier Economics
Munich, December 3, 2019 – CSMM – architecture matters, together with economics consultancy, Frontier Economics, is pleased to receive the prestigious German Design Award 2020 in the new category "Excellent Architecture: Interior Design". Thanks to the open and dynamic design concept which took inspiration from Frontier's distinct company culture, the office design was able to hold its own against more than 1,500 submissions. The awards ceremony will take place as part of the Ambiente trade fair on the 7th of February 2020 in Frankfurt.
The individual approach of the economic consulting firm, which is fully owned by its employees, is reflected in the space planning and design of the office. The statement of the jury underscores the architects' successful collaboration and engagement: „ The open office concept offers an optimal balance between concentration and communication. The mobile cabinetry facilitates a high degree of flexibility and has a distinctive DIY look that contributes to the identity of the office. The design also features a coherent colour and material concept that not only establishes a connection to nature, but also includes a view of the harbour. A comfortable working environment that is truly »something different«.“ Sven Bietau, managing partner of the architecture and consulting firm CSMM – architecture matters, explains: "We are proud and overjoyed to have been awarded with the German Design Award and see this as affirmation of the way we work".
Dr David Bothe, Associate director In Frontier's Cologne office, notes: "It was a fantastic project to be a part of and we are all delighted with the outcome and pleased that the exciting and unique design work from CSMM has been recognised!"
CSMM managed to translate Frontier's innovative approach to working globally and staying connected into how the space is experienced. CSMM's design took teamwork, collaboration and open communication centre stage. The early engagement with Frontier employees on this proved really successful. In addition to high-quality client space, the desire was the creation of an imaginative and unusual working environment that could be used as a multifunctional space. Quiet working space, relaxation areas and the so-called "Break-out Area and Fun" featuring a climbing wall and hammock balance the reception and client facing areas.
In the CSMM team with Sven Bietau and Tiziana Feighofen-Longo, architect and head of the Duesseldorf location, the frontier economics areas were planned by Marie Brosius and Alice Zambon.
